Reading Text: The Hidden World in the Backyard
Last Saturday, Lucas decided to explore the old garden behind his house to observe the small creatures living there. Armed with a magnifying glass and a notebook, he sat quietly near a large stone.
The first thing he noticed was an industrious ant carrying a leaf three times its size toward its colony, while a colorful butterfly rested quietly on a nearby flower. High up in a tree, a noisy cicada was singing its summer song, and a bright green grasshopper jumped from one blade of grass to another.
As Lucas walked closer to a small pond, he had to step carefully to avoid a tiny toad resting in the mud. In the water, a green frog was waiting patiently to catch a flying mosquito. Suddenly, a brilliant dragonfly zipped past his face like a miniature helicopter. Under a wet log, Lucas discovered a slow earthworm and a fast centipede wiggling away from the light.
As the sun began to set, the backyard completely transformed. The daytime insects disappeared, and a beautiful firefly started to blink, illuminating the dark corners of the garden. A small spider began weaving its web between two branches, hoping to catch a fly or a moth before the night ended. Lucas smiled, amazed by the incredible variety of life hidden in such a small space.
