Reading: The Weekend Trip
Last week, Sarah and Mark decided to go (verb + to-infinitive) on a quick weekend trip to the mountains. They enjoyed planning (verb + -ing) the itinerary together. Sarah loves hiking (verb + -ing), but Mark prefers to relax (verb + to-infinitive) by the fireplace with a good book.
On Saturday, they planned to climb (verb + to-infinitive) a small hill near their cabin. However, it started raining (verb + -ing/-to) heavily, so they stopped to buy (stop + to-infinitive to indicate purpose) some hot chocolate instead. Sarah didn't mind changing (verb + -ing) their plans; she actually enjoys spending (verb + -ing) time with
Mark regardless of the activity.
During the trip, Mark admitted to being (verb + -ing) very stressed lately. He promised to take (verb + to-infinitive) more breaks in the future. Sarah agreed to help (verb + to-infinitive) him manage his workload when they returned home.
They finished packing (verb + -ing) their bags on Sunday afternoon. They regretted not staying (verb + -ing) for one more night, but they promised themselves to return (verb + to-infinitive) next summer. It was a wonderful break, and they managed to relax (verb + to-infinitive) completely.
